Senate Summons CBN Governor, Finance Minister over State of the Economy

Following Tuesday’s monetary policy committee (MPC) meeting at the end of which Central Bank governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, hinted that the Nigerian economy is nearing a recession, the Nigerian Senate has summoned the apex bank governor.
Similarly summoned by the senate is Nigeria’s minister for finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun.
The CBN governor and the finance minister are to provide answers to questions on the state of the economy, P.M News reports.

The senate resolved to invite the two senior government officials following a motion moved by the chairman of the senate committee on Gas, Senator Bassey Akpan.

The senate has presently not given a date on which the CBN governor and the finance minister are to appear before the upper legislative chamber.
