Three groups - Ndigbo Lawyers Forum, South East Civil Society Coalition, and Movement for Equity and Justice in Nigeria say they would stage a protest march in Abuja, Lagos, and major South-Eastern cities to register their annoyance over the plots to unseat Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.
They, however, failed to disclose when the protest which they said would be peaceful would hold.
The groups strongly condemned the Justice Okon Abang judgment which ordered that Ikpeazu should vacate office for Dr Uche Ogah, describing the judgement as miscarriage of justice.
A press statement issued by the leaders of the groups namely: Barr Obed Akpunku for the Ndigbo lawyers forum, Josiah Dick for South East Civil Society Coalition, and Chief Obewu Kalu for Movement for Equity and Justice in Nigeria, said Ikpeazu shoukd be allowed to complete his tenure.
The groups noted that democracy is under trial in Abia State and the Nigeria judiciary is also under trial following the bizarre judgement of the Abuja Federal High Court which ordered INEC to give Dr Uche Ogah the Certificate of Return.
They described Ikpeazu as a candidate of equity who should not be unduly removed from office as that would amount to short-changing the entire Abia South district who had not taken their share in the Abia seat of power.
