Family to bury Keshi this week as FG insists on state burial after Olympics

Stephen Keshi’s family will begin the final burial rites for the late Super Eagles coach on Thursday in Benin City.
It is understood that they are not willing to wait for the Nigerian government, which is planning a state burial for the Big Boss after the Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.

Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, explained why government is delaying the burial.

“We don’t want a haphazard burial for such a great patriot, that is why the minister of sports, Solomon Dalung, has said the FG will play its own part after the Olympics,” Ministerial Special Adviser, Nneka Ikem Anibeze, said.

“We will unveil details after the games”, he added.

The Keshi family will, however, hold a Church Service on July 28 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Benin by 9am, as they pay the late coach his final respects.
