Liverpool agree deal for £20m Brazilian: Midfielder awaiting work permit to finalise move

Talisca first surfaced as a target for the Reds earlier this month, with Portuguese newspaper O Jogo claiming a deal was on the cards.

The 22-year-old was said to have informed friends and family that he was moving to Anfield but was ‘anxious’ about the step up to the Premier League.

O Jogo now say a £20million deal has been agreed between the Reds and Benfica and it's currently on hold while Talisca awaits a visa.

The report says Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira has informed the attacking midfielder his move to England will be going ahead.

Championship side Wolves were said to be keen to sign the Brazil U23 international, but Merseyside is his preferred destination.

Talisca's agent Jorge Mendes is said to have been instrumental in driving the Liverpool deal after a proposed move to Chinese club Shangai SIPG fell through.

The move to the Chinese Super League collapsed after Shangai signed fellow Brazilian Hulk, using up their three allocated slots for foreign players.

Talisca made 34 appearances for Benfica last term in all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing one assist.
