PHOTOS: Police Parade Suspected Killers Of Businessman

The Nigerian Police has confirmed that five suspects have being arrested for the kidnapping and subsequent murder of Olalekan Ogunranti, who was kidnapped in Ogun state two months ago.

A statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) Don Awunah confirming the arrest of the prime suspects gave their names as Asimiyu Agboola, Adesina Meyidan, Ramoni Afolabi, Akeem Akorede and Coker Daniel.


“All the suspects confessed they kidnapped, killed and mutilated the body of the late Olalekan Ogunranti to stop him from disturbing them of huge sums of money they duped the deceased,” said Awunah.


Ogunranti, the Managing Director of Today’s Prints Limited, was said to have being abducted at gunpoint in Ogun State on 16th May 2016 by unknown gunmen, but investigation was said to be slow paced.

According to the statement, the acting Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris on assumption of office “ordered the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the IGP’s Monitoring Unit to take over the matter and ensure the arrest of the culprits in record time. The Intelligence Response Team swung into action using all the technical resources of the Force available to them for the arrest of five prime suspects.”

One of the suspects, 32-year-old Coker, according to the Police, gave the Police a confessional statement that led to the discovery of the mutilated body of their victim, dumped in Ibukun river in Osun State.

The operatives of the IRT took “the mutilated body of the late Olalekan Ogunranti that was recovered and deposited the remains at LAUTECH Teaching hospital in Oshogbo”, before proceeding to arrest the other suspects in Lagos and Ondo States.
