Zlatan Ibrahimovic announces Manchester United move

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has announced on social media that he is joining Manchester United.

Ibrahimovic, 34, was available as a free agent after his Paris Saint-Germain contract expired on Thursday.
On the day he became a free agent, he wrote on Instagram: "Time to let the world know. My next destination is @manchesterunited #iamcoming"

Sources told ESPN FC that Ibrahimovic was yet to sign a contract or have a medical when he announced his plans, and United have not yet confirmed the move.

Provisional terms on a one-year deal had been agreed two weeks ago, sources close to the deal said at the time, though a clause in his PSG contract delayed the transfer.

United announced earlier on Thursday that they will play Galatasaray in a friendly in Ibrahimovic's native Sweden on July 30.

The move will see Ibrahimovic reunited with United manager Jose Mourinho, whom he had worked with at Inter Milan during the 2008-09 season.

The former Sweden international will become the club's second signing of the summer after defender Eric Bailly's arrival from Villarreal, while Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is expected to follow shortly.

Before joining PSG, where he spent four years, Ibrahimovic had enjoyed spells at AC Milan, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus, Ajax and Malmo. He has already won titles in four countries, having secured Spain's La Liga, Italy's Serie A, France's Ligue 1 and the Dutch Eredivisie.

The striker's future had been the subject of intense speculation after he confirmed he would be leaving the French club, by breaking the news on his Twitter account on May 13, followed by a statement on the club's website.

Since then, the player had refused to comment on his next destination, stating on June 1 that he would only talk about where he was going when he became "tired" of the stories about him.

He then competed at Euro 2016 with Sweden but failed to score, before later announcing his international retirement.
