Live fashion show on moving Dubai Metro rail |
January 24, 2013 (United Arab Emirates) |
A live fashion show ‘Express Fashion’ was held on a moving metro train that pulled out of the Burj Khalifa-Dubai Mall Metro station around 1 pm local time on January 23, 2013.
The fashion show was the first of its kind to be held in the Middle East region. The 80-odd invite-only audience saw ten models – seven female and three male – strutting down the five-carriage train.
Models sashayed up and down the aisle in three compartments, while the carriage at one end was used as the changing room and the compartment at the other-end carried audio-visual equipment.
As the train was moving slowly on a non-stop round trip to Nakheel Harbour and Tower station, models walked down wearing 40 pieces from retail giant Bloomingdale’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection.
During the first half of the ride, there was a display of black-and-white day-time wear from well-known brands and designers like Stella McCartney, Alexander Wang, Phillip Lim, Chloe and Atos Lombardini.
The second half of the journey featured evening wear ensembles in cobalt blues, ice-cream hues and oranges with lots of graphic prints and lace from Alexander McQueen, DKNY, Matthew Wiliamson, Talbot Runhof, etc.
The event was organized by the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE), in association with the Dubai Mall and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), as part of the 2013 Dubai Shopping Festival.
