UK-based high-end department chain Selfridges has launched an exclusive pop-up store Ndani, which features a range of Spring-Summer 2013 collections especially hand-picked from the runways of Lagos Fashion and Design Week, held from 24th to 27th October, 2012.
Along with an array of African-inspired outfits designed by five established Nigerian designers/design houses – Jewel by Lisa, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi, Eki Orleans, Odio Mimonet and Tiffany Amber – the store also offers exquisite creations from young and upcoming designers/design houses like Agu Anumudu and House of Silk.
The exclusive collections, featured at the pop-up store, highlight a variety of feminine silhouettes, intricate hand-beading and embellished detailing on the outfits.
The collections include boldly printed local West African fabric Ankara, empire-line silk dresses with blown up prints and multi-hued ruffle skirts.
The pop-up store has been conceptualized and organized by the organizers of Lagos Fashion and Design Week ‘Stylehouse Files’ and the Nigerian financial institution Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB).
Founded in 1909, Selfridges operates four stores in London, Birmingham and Manchester as well as an online store delivering within the UK.
