Court grants Umaru Fintiri, N500m bail

Umar Fintiri has been granted bail by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
Former governor of Adamawa State, Umaru Fintiri has been granted bail by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
The bail conditions include N500 million with two sureties in like sum.
He was also asked to submit his international passport.

Giving his ruling on Friday, Justice Ahmed Mohammed however asked that he remain in prison custody pending satisfaction of the bail conditions.
Fintiri had been remanded on Thursday, at the Kuje prison in Abuja, pending ruling on his bail application.
He is being held over five counts of money laundering charges involving about N1.9bn brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC).
The former speaker allegedly laundered monies through his naira and dollar accounts domiciled at Ecobank Plc., and making a large cash payment for the purchase of a property at Plot Number 7, Gana Street , Maitama, Abuja.
The EFCC had arraigned him along with Mayim Constructions and Properties Limited (the second defendant).
Fintiri has however pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
