Kanye West Debuts "Fade" Music Video Featuring Teyana Taylor At 2016 MTV VMAs

After a lengthy speech at the MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West revealed a brand new music video for single "Fade." The visual, already available to stream on Tidal, stars West's longtime protegee Teyana Taylor essentially recreating a scene from Flashdance—with a surprise twist toward the end.

West introduced the video Sunday night after a bit of commentary on his last video, "Famous," calling it "an expression of . . . our fame right now." (He also made winking mention of Taylor Swift, who was not in attendance at the show.) The clip stars Taylor, oiled up and scantily clad in a grey sports bra and underwear as she dances around a gym.

Things take a sultry turn when the scene cuts to Taylor taking a shower with her fiancé, NBA star Iman Shumpert. Then things really get weird when Taylor is suddenly laying on top of Shumpert, with her face done up to look like a lion. Their baby daughter Iman also makes a cute cameo appearance in the clip.

For those who don't know, Taylor is already an established artist in her own right. She signed to West's label, G.O.O.D. Music, in 2012, and also collaborated with him prior to that, singing on "Dark Fantasy," a track from West's 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. She was also featured on the 2012 G.O.O.D. Music compilation album Cruel Summer and last year released a solo EP titled The Cassette Tape 1994.

Before working with West, Taylor was a well-connected up-and-comer who was previously signed to Pharrell's Star Trak label. MTV fans might also recognize her for appearing on My Super Sweet 16 back in 2007.
