Well, good news is the Supreme Pontiff has waded in, and humankind can be spared the despair of uncertainty.

The Pope has proclaimed Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi as the best ever footballer to walk the earth!


Pope Francis – the world’s moral compass and a renowned San Lorenzo supporter – threw his support behind countryman Messi over another compatriot Diego Maradona and even Brazil great and three-time World Cup winner, Pele.

“For me, [Lionel] Messi is better than Maradona and Pele,” Pope Francis was quoted as telling young men and women participating in World Youth Day where he also took liberty to play matchmaker.

Barca talisman Messi endured a difficult Copa America Centenario, stunning the world when he announced his retirement from international football shortly after Argentina lost to Chile on penalties in the final.
