Police arrests 14-yr-old boy for snatching Phone in Abuja

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested by police in Kubwa, Abuja for snatching a woman’s handset worth N45,000. The woman was walking in the area when the boy allegedly snatched her phone and ran away.

"He snatched the phone and she raised alarm, leading good Samaritans", to pursue the boy and apprehend him. The DPO of Kubwa Police Station, CSP Nurudeen Sabo, said the people that ran after the boy and the resulting drama drew the attention of policemen on patrol to the scene.



He said the boy was a barber in the community and during interrogation said that was his first time of snatching phone.

He said the boy’s mother was a widow and had been taking care of the boy for more than two years.

"We are trying to see how we can reform him; we will not take him to court," DPO Sabo said, adding that the mother would be asked to take him to a reform home.

He said the victim got her phone back.
