Shocking! How a top banker was assassinated in Rivers State

Facts have emerged on how a Yenagoa based banker, Adewale Adesanya, was assassinated in Rivers State by yet to be identified gunmen.
The gunmen reportedly trailed the banker from Bayelsa to Rivers State and killed him in Ahoada area of the state.
Before his brutal murder, Adesanya, 39, was working with the Ekeki branch of Skye Bank, Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
He was said to have been driving in his car to Port Harcourt last Saturday, in the company of two other men, when he was attacked around 3pm, close to an NNPC filling station after Okobe in Ahoada.

He was shot several times before his car plunged into the bush. The gunmen reportedly followed the vehicle into the bush with further gun shots to ensure he did not survive.
The names of two other occupants were simply given as Haruna and Samson, all of whom were well known by family and friends of the deceased.

The two young men with Adesanya were said to have escaped into the bush when they noticed that the gun men were coming towards the car as the late banker tried to crawl out with his last strength, but could not.
In a statement, Samson, one of the men with Adesanya, said one of the gun men repeatedly told a member of the gang to ‘finish him off’ and ‘offload him’.
A team of police men from the Ahoada-East Area Command later arrived at the scene of the incident to remove the corpse and the car.
Eye witness accounts say no item was removed from the car apart from his GSM phone which the assassins took away.

The assassins used the phone to answer a call from a friend to the deceased, and alerted him of the development.
Family sources indicated that the late Adesanya, a banker of almost 10 years, was the account officer to many of the ex-militants on the payroll of the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme.
He was believed to be having a running battle over certain deductions from the amnesty allowances in line with the payment standing orders.
The late banker, who hailed from Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State, was married with two children, while his wife is pregnant with the third child.
