And, she resurfaced in the most non-confrontational way possible: she posted a cat video
The star of Swift's foray back into the spotlight wasn't herself, but her fluffy white cat Olivia.
In the short video, Olivia stands up on her hind legs as Swift can be heard coaxing her: "What's going on? You feeling less like a cat and more like a squirrel today? Yep."
Actually, Swift's pampered feline has starred in the singer's Instagram posts before, and while doing her standing-up-on-her-hind legs trick.
Olivia also appeared in a video with Swift and actress Mariska Hargity, whose NYPD detective character Olivia Benson on "Law and Order: SVU" inspired the cat's name.
It's hard to tell how fans or "haters" of the 26-year-old pop diva will respond to the cute cat video gesture. Will it stop fans of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian from tweeting disparaging Swift messages containing snake-related themes?
The once-in-a-decade celebrity feud between Swift and the Wests stems from Swift loudly and publicly claiming that she never approved West's lyrics for his song "Famous" in which he talks about having sex with Swift and boasts about making her famous.
Kardashian said Swift did give permission. She said so in an interview with GQ and then by posting on Snapchat a recording of Swift and West chatting about the lyrics, with West apparently giving her OK to at least some of them.
In addition to the Kimye feud, Swift also faced backlash over her over-hyped romance with actor Tom Hiddleston. The social media flood of beautifully photographed Instagram posts of Swift and Hiddleston, looking affectionate together in decorative outdoor locations, prompted many to wonder if the relationship is real or a publicity stunt.
