Third Mainland Bridge To Be Decongested With Construction Of Alternative Road.

Speaking at Alausa yesterday, The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Dayo Mobereola who was represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Anofi Elegushi, added that the government was constructing the alternative route on Oduduwa Road. A storeyed building belonging to one Chief Afolabi Yusuf would be demolished while 11 walls, 16 shops and four other buildings would be affected minimally.

According to The Punch Newspapers, Mobereola was quoted to have said:

This road will run parallel to the Third Mainland Bridge. It will take traffic to the Iyana Oworoshoki community and at the same time remove traffic caused by commercial yellow buses that pick passengers on the highway.

“We have commenced the construction from Olopomeji to Ifako bus stop. It is also significant to state that there are encumbrances on the right of way, which need to be cleared to make way for the road.

He said the need to establish the right of way, which led to the demolition, was traceable to the quality and specification of the road to be built.

Mobereola called on private sector to partner the state government to quickly deliver on the project, saying it was in the overall interest of residents of the state.
