Trump: Obama probably 'worst president in the history of our country'

Donald Trump shot back at President Obama on Tuesday, after the commander in chief said the GOP nominee is "unfit" to be president.
"Well he’s a terrible president, Trump said in an interview with ABC7 Washington.
"He’ll probably go down as the worst president in the history of our country, he’s been a total disaster."

The GOP nominee repeated that line in an interview set to air Tuesday night on Fox News's "The O'Reilly Factor," adding: "I think he’s been a disaster. He’s been weak, he’s been ineffective."

Trump then went through a laundry list of issues he thought Obama has failed on, including U.S policy on Russia and Ukraine.

“He talks about me with Russia. Wouldn’t it be a wonderful thing frankly if we actually got along with Russia and worked out some kind of a deal where we go and knock the hell out of ISIS along with NATO and along with countries that are in the area. Wouldn’t that be wonderful as opposed to fighting?

“But Crimea was taken over … It was taken over during Obama’s regime, big tough president.”

Over the weekend, Trump told ABC's “This Week” that Russian President Vladimir Putin was “not going into Ukraine,” before having to pivot after the anchor noted that Russia had already taken over the former Ukrainian territory of Crimea.

He also ticked off the economic recovery and homeownership rates as places Obama has failed.

But,  "I think that Hillary Clinton has the potential to be even worse," Trump told O'Reilly on Tuesday.

The president on Tuesday slammed Trump and called on Republican leaders to abandon their support for their party's nominee.

“If you are repeatedly having to say in very strong terms that what he has said is unacceptable, why are you still endorsing him?” Obama asked during a press conference at the White House with Singapore’s prime minister.

"There has to come a point at which you say, 'enough.'"

His criticism comes after Trump's comments about the family Capt. Humayun Khan, who was killed in the Iraq War.

Trump said Obama made the negative comments about him because the president is nervous Trump will win in November.
"I think it just means he’s concerned I’m going to win," Trump told ABC7.

"Don’t forget, last time he said I would never get the nomination, now he’s saying I wouldn’t get the election now all of the sudden he said the other day maybe I can win the election, no I guess he probably has to say that kind of thing."
