49-Year-Old Man Arrested for Allegedly Raping 19-Year-Old YabaTech Undergraduate

According to the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, the lady became acquainted with Arogege some time ago and he reportedly promised to help her with N20,000 to buy a baking oven to boost her business.
The victim, who also operates a restaurant and bar apart from being a student, visited the suspect at his residence on Ojuelegba Road after he told her to come and collect the money. On getting to his house, Arogege allegedly gave her N2,000 and pledged to give her the N20,000 in two installments later on. Trouble was said to have begun when the victim decided to take her leave.

The suspect reportedly asked her if she was not going to show appreciation for the N2,000 he had given her and she replied that she had already said ‘Thank you sir’. Arogege, however, reportedly said that was not the kind of appreciation he wanted and when the victim said that was the only thing she could offer, he was said to have beaten her into submission and then raped her.

Arogege, on the other hand, has denied the allegation, saying the lady in question is his girlfriend. “I beat her up because she refused to have sex with me in appreciation of my kindness towards her. I did not rape her” he stated. He is currently being questioned by the police.
