Armed Men Rob and Kill 26-Year-Old Private Security Guard in Apapa

A 26-year-old pricate security guard was robbed and sadly killed by a four-man robbery gang while he was on his way to deposit some money at a bank in Apapa yesterday.

According to Vanguard, the victim identified as Kingsley Chukwu was trailed by the gunmen on two motorbikes while he was heading to one of the new generation banks on Commercial Road where he was attacked. It was gathered that Chukwu, who works at a residential apartment at Creek Road, had a bag containing some money which he wanted to deposit at the bank for his boss when he was robbed.

An eyewitness identified as Kareem Maju revealed that Chukwu was rushed to a private hospital in the area after the incident but was rejected on the grounds that a police report was required before he can be treated. The witness also recounted how the robbery had happened, saying that the victim had been surrounded by the gunmen. They had ordered him to hand over the bag of money but before he could refuse or comply, one of the men shot him in the hand. He was then shot again when he tried running inside a building.

“The operation was so fast, it was over even before policemen from some of the banks arrived the scene” said the eyewitness.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Dolapo Badmus confirmed the incident and assured that the command is on the trail of robbers. He also appealed to members of the public to avail the command with information that could lead to their arrest.
