Arsene Wenger confident of making two signings after Arsenal miss out on Jamie Vardy

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is confident of making two further signings this summer and insists his squad does not need wholesale changes.

Granit Xhaka’s arrival last month on a £30million deal from Basel kicked off the Gunners’ spending and Wenger was hopeful of adding Jamie Vardy to his squad.
However, the 66-year-old admitted yesterday that he expects the 29-year-old to stay at Leicester City and the Gunners have diverted their attention elsewhere.

With Danny Welbeck not expected to return to fitness until February 2017 at the earliest, Wenger’s on the lookout for a striker and he’s confirmed he hopes to add two more signings to his squad.

Wenger tells Arsenal fans to expect signings after missing out on Vardy

‘We’ve already bought one player – Granit Xhaka – from [Borussia] Monchengladbach, because we’ve lost three players. We’ve lost Arteta, we’ve lost Rosicky and Flamini,’ he told Tencent Sports.

‘So we’ve bought one midfielder and we’re still in the market to buy one or two more players.

‘But it is not easy. It is not just buying. We also have to keep a good balance. If you buy too many players you destabilise your team. So three is the maximum.’
