Edo election: APC candidate, Obaseki speaks ahead of announcement by INEC

The Godwin Obaseki Campaign Organisation has called on relevant security agencies to hold the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, responsible for any violence that breaks out after the announcement of the result of yesterday’s governorship election in the state.
Earlier report has it that the APC was coasting home to victory in the ongoing election; however, the PDP has rejected the result.

A statement by Obaseki’s team asked the security to put an eye of the PDP candidate, Ize Iyamu and his supporters.

According to the statement, “the People Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie ize-Iyamu have been using social media and even word of mouth on the streets to mobilize their supporters for the purpose of engaging in violent street protests against the results of the September 28, 2016 governorship election in which our candidate, Mr Godwin Obaseki is coasting home to victory.

“This call is an escalation of earlier threats to win the election at any cost. The protests that resulted in clashes with security operatives at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as results are being announced is part of this plot to destabilize the state because the outcome of election is not going in their favour. We have it on good authority that their next phase is to unleash the militants they imported into our dear state for the election.

“We therefore call on all the relevant security agencies and the people of Edo state to hold Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, his campaign organisation and the PDP responsible for any breach of the peace during and after the announcement of the election results.”
