The Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, that it would not accept any result different from what was announced at the various polling units in the state.
A statement by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Chris Osa Nehikhare declared that any attempt to manipulate the result of the polls will be resisted.
The statement reads, “The PDP Edo State condemns in strong terms and rejects the call by INEC to suspend the collation of results.
“This call is shocking as we have consistently warned that INEC and the Governor are planning to rig the elections at the point of collation and instead of completing this assignment, INEC is creating more uncertainty and distrust .
“We want to state emphatically that the PDP will not accept any attempt by anybody to manipulate the results which we already have and coasting home to victory.
“The ongoing process must be concluded and the result declared accordingly.
“Meanwhile, we want to commend Edo people for turning out to exercise their franchise just as we had enjoined them to do.
“The PDP shares with Edo people the eagerness to have the result of the ongoing process announced promptly.”
However, the collation of results is currently ongoing with the electoral umpire announcing results of some local governments areas in the state.
