Boko Haram: Troops rescue 43 persons, 500 cows in Borno

Troops in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, rescued 43 persons abducted by Boko Haram militants in Mafa local government area in the early hours of Sunday.

Major Salisu Mustapha of the 7 division Nigerian Army, said the incident took place at Dalakalari village.
Also rescued were 500 cows belonging to the former captives.

Narrating how the Boko Haram terrorists abducted some cattle rearers and livestock at gunpoint, Mustapha said “Some well meaning people informed the military who swung into action and pursued the terrorists.”

“The terrorists, sensing danger, abandoned the livestock just before Panamri village and ran away.”

He said both the rescued persons and cows have been handed over to the local authorities.
