Messi scores winner on return to Argentina national team

Lionel Messi marked his return from international retirement, with the winner as Argentina beat Uruguay 1-0 in a 2018 World Cup qualifier in Mendoza.
The Barcelona forward announced he was done with the national team in June, but has since reversed his decision.

Messi scored three minutes before half time, to give coach Edgardo Bauza a winning start as Argentina handler. It was his 56th goal for his country.

Despite having Paulo Dybala sent off on the stroke of half-time, Argentina held on to win the match.

The victory moved Argentina to the top of the CONMEBOL qualifying standings — a point ahead of Uruguay, Colombia and Ecuador – after seven games.
