What will happen to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's children as actress files for divorce?

Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt after two years of marriage "for the health of the family".

The Hollywood couple's breakup will shock the world, and comes after more than a decade together which brought them six children - Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, eight.
According to TMZ, the decision to end the marriage was made by Jolie because she was "extremely upset" with the way the Moneyball star has been parenting their kids.

The report adds that she has asked for physical custody - allegedly only wanting Pitt to have joint legal custody - and is requesting a judge gives him visitation rights.

"This decision was made for the health of the family," attorney Robert Offer added in a statement.

"She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time."
Jolie adopted then-seven-month-old Maddox, and Zahara three years later - while both were later adopted by Pitt as their relationship blossomed.
In 2006, they welcomed their first biological child into the world as Shiloh was born, while the following year saw them adopt Pax.

However, initially the actress had to apply as a single parent because of Vietnam's regulations regarding unmarried couples.

Eight years ago, Jolie gave birth to twins Knox and Vivienne as the couple's family grew - but it is now unclear what the result of the divorce will mean for them.
