Mariah Carey, James Packer Fight Over “America’s Got Talent” And Nick Cannon?

Did Mariah Carey and James Packer have a fight over… “America’s Got Talent” and Nick Cannon? That’s the random claim inside one of this week’s tabloids. But it seems suspiciously more dramatic than some of the acts on the NBC talent competition.
A headline in the new edition of the National Enquirer blares, “Mariah And Packer Get Nasty Over Nick!” According to the accompanying story, Carey “was in NO mood for drama from new-ish billionaire boyfriend James Packer” when he “suddenly started screaming as she giggled over clips of longtime love Nick Cannon on ‘American’s Got Talent.'” It’s claimed the superstar then “flat-out EXPLODED” in response.


“Mariah’s probably not even aware of how much she talks about Nick in front of James — and James is sick of it,” a so-called “pal” claims. “So he was livid when he found her watching Nick on his TV show.” The alleged tipster goes on to say, “Mariah keeps hearing from pals how Nick whimpers he’s ‘broken’ over their breakup — and she’s still nuts about him. NO question they’ll be back together, hot and heavy!”

Actually, there’s been no indication whatsoever that Carey and Cannon are anything more than co-parents who get along. There is NOTHING romantic brewing between them. But there’s two other telltale signs that this piece was made up.

First off, it’s never said WHEN this fight supposedly happened, or even what went down after Carey “exploded.” And second, Carey and Packer have been dating for more than a year. That hardly makes him her “new-ish boyfriend.” In fact, this ridiculous article doesn’t even mention that they’re engaged.

With all those red flags, Gossip Cop looked into the story’s claims. Not surprisingly, we’re told no such incident with Carey, Packer, Cannon and “AGT” ever happened.
